Sirianni Youtz Spoonemore Hamburger PLLC is a Seattle litigation firm. Since 1981, we have tried, argued, and resolved cases for clients across the country.

Health Care and Insurance Litigation

We have spent three decades suing health insurers and health plans, and winning.

  • Autism and developmental disabilities. Our class actions against Regence, Premera, Group Health, Moda, Boeing, King County and the State’s Health Care Authority ended exclusions of therapy for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. See, e.g., O.S.T. v. Regence BlueShield, 181 Wn.2d 692 (2014).

  • Hepatitis C. Working with Harvard Law School’s Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation, we brought the first cases in the country challenging restrictions on curative hepatitis C drugs. A federal court ordered Washington Medicaid to cover them despite an $800 million price tag.

  • Obesity treatment. In 2026, we won three appeals in Division One holding that blanket exclusions of obesity treatment, including GLP-1 drugs, may be disability discrimination. Simonton v. Health Care Auth., No. 86988-4-I (Wash. Ct. App. 2026).

  • Hospital charity care. We won a $70 million settlement against Community Health Systems that erased the medical debt of 17,000 former patients in Spokane.

  • ERISA and individual benefits. We also litigate ERISA fiduciary and pension claims and represent individuals denied health, disability and retirement benefits. One of those cases was the $7 billion public pension dispute we argued before the Washington Supreme Court.

Business and Securities Litigation

  • Section 16(b). We obtained a $247 million judgment in Dreiling v. Jain, 281 F. Supp. 2d 1234 (W.D. Wash. 2003), the largest in the statute’s history. We have also obtained two of the largest Section 16(b) settlements.

  • Investor fraud. We have won judgments and arbitration awards for defrauded investors, including a $20 million judgment in a Ponzi scheme case.

  • Defense. We have won dismissals and summary judgments for the Federal Reserve Bank, Chicago Title, Getty Images, Intuit, law firms and lawyers.

  • Title and lending. We handle title insurance coverage and lien priority disputes on major construction and development projects.

  • Arbitration. We take on confidential arbitrations wherever the dispute is, from accounting-firm liability in New York to control of a hop-farming operation in Yakima.

Consumer Class Actions

  • AT&T. We won a $45 million settlement against AT&T and other carriers for families billed for prison collect calls. The case went to the Washington Supreme Court multiple times. More than $13 million in leftover funds went to the Legal Foundation of Washington.

  • Health insurer class arbitration. We won a $30 million recovery in a class arbitration against a major health insurer.

  • Other class cases. We have obtained class judgments and settlements against insurers, health care sharing ministries and financial companies.

How We Work

We try cases. Our lawyers have tried more than 50 matters and argued before the Washington Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit. We also evaluate cases early, so clients can settle when settling makes sense. We don’t overstaff, and the lawyer you hire does the work. Much of our business comes from other lawyers, and several of our clients are judges.
